Amazon Brings Alexa+ to India With Hindi Support, Early Access Now Live
September 16, 2026

Amazon has launched its Alexa+ conversational assistant in India, with support for Hindi. The assistant can hold longer conversations and keep track of context, the company said.

Alexa+ is available to all customers in the country through Early Access in both Hindi and English. Once the testing period ends, Amazon plans to make it free for Prime members, while non-Prime users would pay ₹2,000 per month ($20.85).

According to Amazon, the upgraded Alexa has a more expressive voice and can handle complex multi-step tasks, such as ordering groceries through Amazon Now and controlling smart home devices. Users can switch between English and Hindi mid-sentence.

The assistant is integrated with India-based services including Swiggy, Zomato's District, TripAdvisor, MakeMyTrip, and EazyDiner, as well as music streaming through Amazon Music and JioSaavn.

Amazon first invited users to test Alexa+ in Hindi in June, followed by an English version. The company launched Alexa in India in English in 2017 and added Hindi in 2019, aiming at a market with over 600 million Hindi speakers. Amazon said its smart home devices have grown 20% from last year, without giving absolute numbers.

Alexa+ was announced in 2025 and became available to all U.S. users in 2026. It has also launched in the U.K., Canada, Brazil, Mexico, Italy, and Germany with local language context.
