As of June 23rd, the system's facial recognition feature will be expanded to identify people even when their faces are not clearly visible. This will be achieved by utilizing additional non-biometric signals such as body size and clothing color. The update will also enable Google's smart home AI to identify specific individuals based on their clothing and recognize distinct sounds captured by cameras, such as dogs barking or footsteps. Furthermore, the Familiar Faces library will automatically update with the latest images of household members, reducing the likelihood of inaccurate notifications. The AI-generated video event descriptions will now include specific sounds, even if they originate from off-camera sources. These enhancements aim to address some of the inconsistencies experienced by users, including incorrect event logs and misidentified individuals. Additionally, the latest Google Home app update, version 4.20, introduces 'System Health alerts' for Nest thermostat users, notifying them of potential issues with their HVAC system, and improves support for Matter switches.
