Google Reboots CC as an AI Organizer for Families and Groups

Google is testing a new version of its experimental AI tool, CC, this time aimed at helping families and groups stay organized. The agentic platform gets its own Google account that up to six family members can share information with.

Each person chooses which emails to hand over, either one at a time or by selecting addresses that always forward to CC. The agent also builds a shared calendar and task list everyone can see, and sends a daily briefing covering upcoming events and to-dos. It can file paperwork and handle logistics like registration forms or shopping lists, though it asks permission before acting.

The name may ring a bell. Google first introduced CC last December, then rebranded it as its Daily Briefing feature earlier this year. Now the project shifts to a family-centric organizer based on feedback from early testers.

Users can add CC to a Drive folder, share specific files, or chat with it in a dedicated Google Chat window. Google's FAQ notes privacy limits: CC cannot add or remove family members, nor access or search their individual inboxes. Existing users will get a prompt to upgrade, and new users face a wait list.
