The company announced Thursday that the platform now supports personal avatars and integrates its advanced Gemini Omni AI model. To create a digital twin that looks and sounds like you, all you need is a selfie and a voice recording.

With these new features, you can generate a custom video simply by typing a prompt and adding a few reference photos. Gemini Omni blends everything together, producing a personalized clip that matches your vision. You can also fine-tune the result by swapping backgrounds, adjusting lighting, or applying other post-production effects. If you make a mistake, the tool now lets you step through each edit rather than starting over from scratch.

Google Vids has evolved from a workplace assistant into a full-fledged video creation platform, now integrated into Google Workspace. That means businesses can use it for onboarding videos or other internal communications, with the personal avatar adding a conversational touch. While competitors like HeyGen and Synthesia already offer similar services, Google’s entry into this space is likely to heat up the competition. To maintain transparency, all AI-generated content will carry an invisible SynthID watermark, and personal avatars are tied to a user’s Google account, available only to those 18 or older in select regions.
