Google’s AI Mode Gets Hands-On with Canva, YouTube Music, and Instacart

Google is expanding its AI Mode in Search with direct connections to three popular apps: Canva, YouTube Music, and Instacart. Starting this week in the US, users can now create playlists, design flyers, and compile shopping lists without leaving the search bar. The move is part of a broader push to make AI assistance feel less like a separate tool and more like a natural part of your daily routine.

With YouTube Music, you can ask AI Mode to build a playlist based on a mood or genre. Once Gemini generates the list, it appears right in the chat feed and can be opened in the app with one tap. For Canva, the AI can mock up design templates—like party flyers—by pulling in details from your calendar. Instacart integration lets you add ingredients to your cart directly from a search prompt, and it can also reference saved events to tailor your shopping list. Google says more partners are on the way.

These integrations build on the Personal Intelligence feature launched earlier this year, which lets Gemini pull data from other apps to inform its answers. Google has been steadily rolling out more capabilities in Search throughout 2026, including tapping Reddit for first-hand accounts and promising smarter results at I/O 2026. The company also introduced an Intelligent Search Box that expands for longer queries and accepts videos, images, files, and Chrome tabs as inputs.
