Meta Plans AI Pendant and a Flood of New Smart Glasses This Year

Meta is quietly building an AI-powered pendant and preparing to release as many as four new smart glasses models before the end of 2025, according to a report from The Information. The moves are part of an aggressive push to recover from the heavy losses at Reality Labs, the company’s hardware division, which burned through $19 billion last year alone.

The pendant, which Meta plans to begin testing over the next year, would work similarly to a device made by Limitless, a startup Meta acquired in 2025. Limitless’s original “Pendant” was a small clip-on microphone that recorded conversations throughout the day, then offered summaries, transcripts, and a searchable archive. At the time of the acquisition, Limitless CEO Dan Siroker said the goal was to build “incredible AI-enabled wearables” that could bring personal superintelligence to everyone.

On the glasses front, Meta is expanding beyond its partnerships with Ray-Ban and Oakley. The first new model, codenamed “Modelo,” could arrive as soon as June. Two more—codenamed “Luna” and “RBM2 Refresh,” the latter likely an updated Ray-Ban design—are expected this fall. A fourth model, “Mojito VIP,” is slated for December. Meta is also testing future designs called “Artemis” and “SSG” (short for supersensing glasses).

All of these wearables will run Meta’s AI models, along with a new consumer AI agent called Hatch, which is still in development. To bring in revenue, Meta plans to launch a business subscription called “Wearables for Work.” Alex Himel, Meta’s vice president for wearables, reportedly told employees in an internal memo that the company wants to sell 10 million wearables in the second half of 2026, expand to more countries, and sign up at least 10 corporate clients, including two large organizations needing 100 devices each.

Meta hasn’t confirmed the report, but CEO Mark Zuckerberg told investors in early 2026 that Reality Labs would focus on glasses and wearables, and that its losses would gradually shrink.
