Meta’s Next Wearable Push: An AI Pendant and a Flood of New Smart Glasses

Meta’s Next Wearable Push: An AI Pendant and a Flood of New Smart Glasses

Meta is doubling down on wearable AI, with plans to test an AI pendant and roll out as many as four new smart glasses models by the end of this year, according to a report from The Information.

The pendant project follows Meta’s 2025 acquisition of Limitless, which made a Bluetooth microphone dubbed "Pendant" that records conversations all day to generate summaries and transcripts. Limitless CEO Dan Siroker said at the time that Meta’s vision includes "personal superintelligence" through AI-enabled wearables.

On the glasses front, Meta is moving beyond its Ray-Ban and Oakley partnerships. The report cites an internal memo from wearables VP Alex Himel, outlining a lineup that includes a model codenamed "Modelo" as early as June, followed by "Luna" and a Ray-Ban refresh called "RBM2 Refresh" this fall, and a December release dubbed "Mojito VIP." Future models "Artemis" and "SSG" supersensing glasses are also in testing. All will run Meta’s AI models and the unreleased AI agent Hatch.

Meta is also launching a business subscription service called "Wearables for Work" and testing subscription tiers for its consumer AI agent Hatch through the new Meta One payment system. Himel told employees the company aims to sell 10 million wearables in the second half of 2026, expand to more countries, and sign at least 10 enterprise customers—including two large organizations needing 100 devices each.

This aggressive push comes as Meta’s Reality Labs division continues to burn cash, losing $19 billion in 2025 alone. CEO Mark Zuckerberg told investors the division will now focus on glasses and wearables, with losses expected to shrink gradually.
