NVIDIA’s RTX Spark Chip Could Finally Give Windows an Apple Silicon Moment
NVIDIA’s upcoming RTX Spark chip might be the catalyst that pushes Windows PCs into a new era of performance and efficiency—one that rivals Apple’s M-series revolution. By combining Arm CPU cores, a powerful Blackwell GPU, and up to 128GB of unified memory, RTX Spark systems promise to deliver workstation-class power in slim, long-lasting laptops. This is the high-end option that Qualcomm’s Snapdragon chips, aimed at mid-range devices, can’t touch—and it could finally force Microsoft to fully optimize Windows for Arm architecture.
Early RTX Spark machines, like the Surface Pro Ultra and ASUS ProArt systems, hint at what’s possible: no more compromises between power and portability. NVIDIA’s 6,144 GPU cores (matching the RTX 5070) and unified memory pool make these systems ideal for memory-hungry creators, developers, and AI enthusiasts running large models or complex video edits. The catch? Pricing likely starts around $4,000, putting them firmly in premium territory.
Competition from AMD’s Ryzen AI Max lineup offers x86 compatibility and up to 192GB of unified memory, but lacks the power efficiency of Arm. RTX Spark systems will rely on Microsoft’s Prism emulator for legacy x86 software—a process that worked smoothly in my tests with Snapdragon Copilot+ PCs. Microsoft has also confirmed ongoing optimization work with NVIDIA for Windows 11.
