Perplexity Launches 'Teammates' AI Agents for Max Subscribers

Perplexity has introduced personal AI agents called "teammates," built to handle ongoing work with little supervision. They operate inside Perplexity Computer, the company's cloud-based assistant that carries out multi-step tasks, and add capabilities for sustained, large-scale work.

Users can give each teammate its own role or task, and the agents run simultaneously. They coordinate with one another and can even manage other teammates, bringing in additional agents and planning their tasks as the workload grows.

The agents run around the clock in the background and alert users when a decision is needed. Each teammate gets its own sidebar entry in Computer, showing current and completed work, where users can assign more tasks, redirect the agent or request a status update.

The feature is currently limited to Perplexity Max subscribers on the web and iOS. The plan costs $200 a month or $2,000 a year.
