Russians' Faith in AI Taking Their Jobs Wanes

A recent survey has revealed a notable shift in Russians' perceptions of artificial intelligence (AI) and its potential to replace them at work. According to the study, conducted by SuperJob, a quarter of Russians now believe that AI is incapable of performing any of their job tasks, a 6% increase from last year. The survey of 3,000 respondents found that the average estimate of tasks that can be automated by AI has decreased from 31% to 28% over the past year. Men tend to have a higher opinion of AI's capabilities, with 31% of tasks deemed automatable, compared to 26% for women. Younger respondents, those under 35, also have a more optimistic view of AI's potential, with 31% of tasks seen as susceptible to automation. In contrast, Russians over 45 are more skeptical, with 23% of tasks considered automatable and 28% believing AI is not up to the task. Interestingly, professionals with secondary education see more opportunities for AI application than those with higher education. The survey also found that certain professions, such as call center operators, PR managers, and accountants, have significantly tempered their expectations regarding AI's capabilities over the past year. Meanwhile, programmers and system administrators remain steadfast in their assessment of AI's potential, with little change in their estimates from last year. This stability in opinion is likely due to their firsthand familiarity with the technology's capabilities and limitations.
