Scammers Use Fake AI Hairstyle and Makeup Services to Install Malware

Fraudsters are luring people with free AI services that supposedly pick out hairstyles, haircuts, makeup looks and new images from a single photo - but the app behind them is malicious software, according to materials from the prosecutor's office reviewed by RIA Novosti.

Victims are told to download the app via a link in order to use the service. Once the file is installed, the scammers gain remote access to the phone and can steal money.

The prosecutor's office advised using only official services and avoiding suspicious links, and recommended installing protection on the phone. It also reminded people never to give SMS codes, passwords or card details to strangers, and to contact police if they suspect fraud.
