Triomics Raises $22M to Bring Oncology-Focused AI to Cancer Centers
Cancer centers are drowning in paperwork, and Triomics wants to help. The startup, which builds AI tools specifically for oncology, announced a $22 million Series B round led by Battery Ventures, with existing investors Nexus Venture Partners, Lightspeed, and Y Combinator also participating. The company’s platform automates time-consuming tasks like clinical trial matching and appointment preparation, freeing up oncologists and administrative staff to focus on patients.
The problem is straightforward: better treatments mean patients live longer, but their medical records grow into unwieldy beasts. A single chart can run thousands of pages, mixing physician notes, imaging reports, and even faxed documents. “We have seen medical records with thousands of pages of information,” co-founder Sarim Khan told TechCrunch.
Founded in 2021, Triomics initially helped doctors match patients to clinical trials. As large language models matured, the company expanded into generating verifiable patient summaries that integrate directly into existing clinical tools. These summaries cut down appointment prep time, a big deal in oncology where staff burnout is severe and patient histories are exceptionally complex. The platform also handles mandatory tumor registry submissions, a tedious legal requirement for cancer centers.
Generic AI agents can produce basic summaries, but top institutions like Memorial Sloan Kettering and Yale Cancer Center use Triomics because its models are trained exclusively on oncology data. Competition is fierce—Abridge and Microsoft’s Nuance offer AI scribes for patient conversations—but Triomics is gaining traction. Khan reported a fourfold increase in enterprise customers over the past year, with annualized recurring revenue jumping tenfold.
