Wildberries to Debut AI Chat Assistant for Smarter Shopping

Wildberries is rolling out an AI-powered assistant designed to help shoppers find products based on everyday needs, the company’s founder and RWB head Tatyana Kim announced in an interview at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum on Tuesday.
The assistant works as a chat interface, letting users type requests in plain language. Instead of typing a product name, a shopper could ask for a gift for a coworker under 3,000 rubles, a robot vacuum suited for a home with pets, or a complete packing list for a trip with a child. The AI then curates relevant items directly in the chat window.
Kim explained that the feature will live inside the search results page. Once a user clicks into the chat, they can refine their query, compare suggestions, and discuss product details. The goal is to cut the time between having a need and finding the right item.
“We’ve been using generative language models internally for a long time—without them we couldn’t grow our business,” Kim said. “Now we plan to create a dedicated AI lab and launch this assistant to make product discovery faster and more natural.”
After an extended testing phase, Wildberries will study user behavior to improve the assistant’s capabilities. The forum runs through June 6, with RIA Novosti serving as its general information partner.
